Excuse Me??? – updated

Obama’s spokesman Bill Burton put this out this morning (via Huffington Post):

Today, John McCain put the former mayor of a town of 9,000 with zero foreign policy experience a heartbeat away from the presidency.

Excuse me?

Obama chose Biden for his foreign policy experience because Obama himself has none. Obama almost had to pick a VP with foreign policy experience.

McCain doesn’t need to pick a VP with foreign policy experience, he has enough of his own thank you very much.

Governor Palin as Governor and as a former mayor has more executive experience than any of the other three…

Updated:

For more on what Governor Palin brings to the table see Beldar’s post that links to all the posts he’s written on Governor Palin over the past months.

It's Sarah!

Fox News confirms with the McCain Campaign that the VP pick is indeed Alaska Governor Sarah Palin!

Yay!

Added: Happy Birthday Senator McCain!

Happy 20th Anniversary Todd and Sarah Palin!

Death Taxes

Yesterday, while watching Fox News, there was a segment about taxes and whose taxes would be higher and all that. Unfortunately I can’t remember which show it was on and I didn’t hit the record button on my TiVo remote…

One point of discussion was death or estate taxes. The Fox person asked the democrat about death taxes and the democrat said they must stay and even increase. The Fox person mentioned that money inherited is money that has already been taxed.

The democrat representative said, and I paraphrase because I can’t remember the exact quote:

We can’t allow people to accumulate wealth and then pass it to their heirs.

And there you have it, the main difference between democrats and republicans. Republicans say more power to you – accumulating wealth to pass on to your heirs. The democrats don’t want you keep your own money or give it to your own family. You can accumulate wealth, but only to give to the government so they can redistribute the wealth that you worked so hard to accumulate.

An Award? For Me?

arte y pico award

Kate at Electric Venom has confered upon me the lovely Arte y Pico award for just being me.

I need to link Kate since she awarded me the award. I also have to post the picture of the award, post the rules and give the award to five others and link them too.

1. Pick five blogs that you consider deserve this award in terms of creativity, design, interesting material, and general contributions to the blogger community, no matter what language.

2. Each award has to have the name of the author and also a link to his or her blog to be visited by everyone.

3. Each winner has to show the award and give the name and link to the blog that has given him or her the award itself.

4. Each winner and each giver of the prize has to show the link of “Arte y pico” blog, so everyone will know the origin of this award.

5. To show these rules.

{drumroll}

1. The Anchoress.

2. Fausta’s Blog (that’s FAH-oo-sta).

3. ~J~ and Sue at J’s Cafe Nette.

4. Lorie Byrd

5. The American Princess.

Monday Morning Musings

Of course the “big” story over the weekend was the choice of Joe Biden as Barack Obama’s Vice Presidential co-candidate.

Obama’s pick of Biden belies the “change” message he’s been pushing. Biden certainly can’t be identified as “outside the beltway”, he’s been in the Senate for nearly 6 complete terms.

Joe Biden loves the sound of his own voice, he talks and talks and talks.

Many times, Biden’s mouth moves faster than his brain. See Jim Geraghty’s list, a sampling:

Speaking to the New York Observer: Biden was equally skeptical — albeit in a slightly more backhanded way — about Mr. Obama. “I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy,” he said. “I mean, that’s a storybook, man.”

Dem VP Choices

Okay, so now we’ve been told that the text messages will go out tomorrow morning at 10:00 am (I am assuming Central Daylight Time) and the big event at the Old Capitol Building in Springfield is now scheduled for 3:00 pm.

Earlier today there were four names out there in the Great VP Stakes:

1. Tim Kaine (who has since said that he’s been told he’s not the pick)

would be Obama/Kaine

versus

McCain/__________

Lots of cane sounds in there…

2. Birch Evan Bayh

would be Obama/Bayh

Could sound like Obama buying something or Obama bye…

3. Chet Edwards – the new one today

would be Obama/Edwards

does Obama really want the name recognition of Edwards, even if Chet isn’t Silky Pony?

4. Joe Biden

would be Obama/Biden

probably the most likely of the bunch.

VP Choices

In Breathless Anticipation I noted that the media is stressing out over VP choices for both candidates.

For the past couple of days as the excitement is reaching a crescendo I’ve been thinking that the candidates themselves (and perhaps their picks, if the picks actually know who they are) are laughing their a$$es off watching all of this.

Today, there are cameras outside the homes of three potential Dem VPs – Joe Biden, Evan Bayh, and Tim Kaine.

May not be any of them.
