We went to Target today to get the two main ingredients, marshmallows and Pillsbury crescent rolls. Somehow the crescent rolls did not make it home although they did make it onto the receipt. Ah, well. It happens. I’ll pick up some more crescent rolls later in the week when I pick up some milk. The kids and I will be making these on Holy Saturday.
So, gather together:
Preheat the oven to 350°F
Mix the cinnamon and sugar together to taste, the mixture you would use on toast, or buy one of Domino Sugar’s Sugar and Cinnamon shakers to use.
Dip the marshmallows in the butter and roll in the cinnamon and sugar mixture. This represents anointing Christ’s body in oil and spices.
Place the coated marshmallow on a triangle of crescent roll and pull the sides up and crimp/pinch shut. Don’t roll as you would ordinarily. This represents wrapping Christ’s body in the shroud.
Once the rolls are complete, place on a cookie sheet (use a piece of foil on top to save on cleanup) and bake for 10-12 minutes. The oven represents the tomb. Just pretend the time was three days.
After the rolls are out of the oven and have cooled, break them open and see that the marshmallow (Christ) is not there. The shroud shrouds no one.
He is Risen, He is Risen indeed!
