First Snow
October 27, 2008 – 9:18 pm by kimschWe had a little snow today. Freeze warning tonight.
We had to go purchase a new TV today too. About a week ago, suddenly the TV (a 7-year-old, 42 inch Sony rear projection set) went very red. The reset button and adjusting the set worked only so far. Then today, it went really red and there was no adjusting it at all. Here’s a picture of Megyn Kelly all pinkerized… Poor Megyn. I mean, I know it’s Breast Cancer Awareness month, but this just goes too far…
Please contribute to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. My sister’s mother-in-law died as a result of her breast cancer last October.
So we went to Circuit City and purchased a 47 inch LG HD LCD to replace it. It’s very nice.

I like projection TVs. Shame about the bulbs, though. LCDs are much easier to repair.
David N. Scotts last blog post..Yeah so
Our projection TV had already had the guns replaced under warranty because of screen burn in. The crappy thing was that the gun replacement didn’t correct the burn in.
There are a couple things I really love about this new LCD set.
One is that there are no reflections in the screen. I just can’t see the windows in the daytime, or the lamps, or the spice shelf in my kitchen reflected in the screen while watching TV or a movie.
The other is that it takes up less space and is lighter. The old projection TV was huge and so heavy it was hard for me to move. I had to have help. This one is quite easy, and it swivels on its stand too, so adjustments are extra easy.
All in all I am very pleased with the new TV.
