“The widow of a July 7 suicide bomber yesterday launched a High Court bid to be represented at the victims’ inquest – saying she had also suffered the loss of a loved one in the atrocity. I was watching Top Chef DC and the elimination challenge was to serve concessions at a Washington Nationals Game. Players came up to get some food and I was wondering why all these baseball players were wearing the Walgreens logo on their uniforms.

Facebook sues tiny Teachbook over Book in name

As if anyone would confuse Teachbook with Facebook. Facebook is saying they have a trademark in the “book” part… What do you think?

Teachbook.com has two employees and fewer than 20 users signed up for its free Web community. The site has yet to officially launch.

But the Northbrook, Ill.-based company, which provides tools for teachers to manage their classrooms and share lesson plans and other resources, has been thrust into the spotlight by social networking giant Facebook, which sued the start-up for using “book” in its name.

Facebook, which was founded in 2004 and has more than 500 million users, filed its trademark infringement lawsuit in U.S. district court in San Jose last week, asserting that the “book” part of its name is “highly distinctive in the context of online communities and networking websites.”

Another Alligator in the Chicago River – must be that Global Warming thing

For years Sararose Krenger and her family joked that alligators lived near their Ravenswood Gardens’ home along the Chicago River.

On Sunday Krenger, 22, and her family were on their boat traveling the river when their joke became a reality. They spotted a three-to-five-foot alligator basking in the sun along the bank of the North Branch of the Chicago River just north of Belmont Avenue.
