What Ever Happened to Common Sense?

Via DRJ over at Patterico’s we find this story about some people who certainly didn’t think before they acted:

“A pair of hoax ads on Craigslist cost an Oregon man much of what he owned.

The ads popped up Saturday afternoon, saying the owner of a Jacksonville home was forced to leave the area suddenly and his belongings, including a horse, were free for the taking, said Jackson County sheriff’s Detective Sgt. Colin Fagan.

But Robert Salisbury had no plans to leave. The independent contractor was at Emigrant Lake when he got a call from a woman who had stopped by his house to claim his horse. On his way home he stopped a truck loaded down with his work ladders, lawn mower and weed eater.

“I informed them I was the owner, but they refused to give the stuff back,” Salisbury said. “They showed me the Craigslist printout and told me they had the right to do what they did.” [Source]

What is up with these people? Didn’t they think before going to someone’s house and taking stuff? Are these the type of people who’d buy swamp land in The Mojave? Or buy the Brooklyn Bridge?

Who taught these people anything at all? I mean, really. A Craig’s List ad as authority to take things that don’t belong to you?

Monday Morning Musings

Florida and Michigan “do-overs”. No. No do-overs. The DNC made a mistake when they decided to penalize Florida and Michigan of all their delegates. They should have followed the RNC’s lead and just docked them half.

That would have solved the current dilemma. Of course, the current dilemma wouldn’t be a dilemma if Clinton had taken the nomination on ÜberTuesday like she was “supposed” to. The only reason there is a dilemma now is because she’s losing and the race is close. If she were in the lead and the race wasn’t close, nobody would care about Michigan and Florida’s delegates (except maybe residents of those states) but if they could make a difference at this late date – then they are über-important.

The DNC has made their bed and now they must lie in it. Just as they short sheeted themselves by changing their rules after McGovern and again in the eighties regarding delegates and super delegates, they have put the blanket on sideways with their penalization of Michigan and Florida.

This is Spring?

Took this picture just a little bit ago. It’s been snowing all day long. I think we’ll have snow bunnies in the yard come Sunday…

Easter Cactus?

I have two Christmas Cacti, one bloomed beautifully for Christmas and the other didn’t. It seems that the second one was waiting for Easter…Photo of Easter Cactus in Window

Do You Remember This Photo?

This photo was taken on September 16, 2007 and was published in Time Magazine.
Obama Richardson Clinton Pledge After Obama’s speech this morning, and the Reverend Jeremiah Wright’s “pontifications” immortalized on Church produced DVDs, this photo seems like Obama was, indeed, making some kind of statement after all.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
the rain fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of his hand.

Resurrection Rolls

We went to Target today to get the two main ingredients, marshmallows and Pillsbury crescent rolls. Somehow the crescent rolls did not make it home although they did make it onto the receipt. Ah, well. It happens. I’ll pick up some more crescent rolls later in the week when I pick up some milk. The kids and I will be making these on Holy Saturday.

So, gather together:

pb_crescents

a package of Pillsbury crescent rolls (the regular size that makes 8 rolls)
8 regular sized (not mini) marshmallows
melted butter (a couple of tablespoons)
    cinnamon
    sugar

Preheat the oven to 350°F

sugarcinn1.jpgMix the cinnamon and sugar together to taste, the mixture you would use on toast, or buy one of Domino Sugar’s Sugar and Cinnamon shakers to use.

Dip the marshmallows in the butter and roll in the cinnamon and sugar mixture. This represents anointing Christ’s body in oil and spices.

Place the coated marshmallow on a triangle of crescent roll and pull the sides up and crimp/pinch shut. Don’t roll as you would ordinarily. This represents wrapping Christ’s body in the shroud.

Once the rolls are complete, place on a cookie sheet (use a piece of foil on top to save on cleanup) and bake for 10-12 minutes. The oven represents the tomb. Just pretend the time was three days.

After the rolls are out of the oven and have cooled, break them open and see that the marshmallow (Christ) is not there. The shroud shrouds no one.

He is Risen, He is Risen indeed!
