It’s that time of year again, time to set the clocks back to Standard time. You don’t have to do it if you’re in Puerto Rico, Arizona, or Hawaii because they don’t switch to Daylight Saving Time in the first place.
The Pork one was Apple-Mustard Glazed Pork Chops with Mashed Potatoes and Baby Carrots.
It was pretty easy to follow the instructions and prepare the meal. I would certainly recommend reading the instructions through at least once and maybe twice before attempting it.
It did taste fantastic.
I bought this on my own and was not compensated for it in any way.
This year, Florida has voted to keep Daylight Saving Time and not “Fall Back” in November.
Daylight Saving Time is not observed in Hawaii, American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and most of Arizona.
States and Territories may exempt themselves from Daylight Saving Time by State law. But there is no provision to KEEP Daylight Saving Time over Standard Time. That requires either an act of Congress – passage of a bill and have it signed into law by the President -or- the Secretary of Transportation can issue regulations making the change.
Changing Florida to Daylight Saving Time all the time would put Florida on Atlantic time in the “winter” when the rest of the country goes to Standard time and matches back up with Hawaii, American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and most of Arizona. As the “Fall Back” to Standard Time occurs the first Sunday in November now and Election Day is the Tuesday after the First Monday in November. In 2018 it’s the 6th, in 2020 it’s the 3rd because of Leap Year. 2022 it’s November 8th, 2024 it’s November 5th, 2026 it’s the 3rd again, 2028 it’s the 7th, 2030 it’s the 5th. It isn’t until 2032 when Election Day is on the 2nd when Election Day is in Daylight Saving Time for everyone who observes it normally. If Florida is on Atlantic Time, Florida’s polls will close a full hour ahead of New York and Washington D.C. In any year that November doesn’t begin on a Monday.
So, anyway, buy some batteries today so you can change the ones in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. And don’t forget to set those clocks that have to be set manually back one hour before you go to bed Saturday Night.

Paul Pansini:

Paul Pansini loved the excitement of being a firefighter in downtown Manhattan, but his days off meant a great deal, too. Firefighter Pansini, 36, took his son, Paul Jack, now 7, and his twin daughters, Anna and Claire, now 3, everywhere when he was not working. “He was brave enough to even take them to the store,” his wife, Janice, recalled.
Since Sept. 11, the family has, in turn, felt his presence everywhere. “I feel him definitely in my house,” Mrs. Pansini said. The family lives in his childhood home in Tottenville in Staten Island. When they moved there in November 1994, the couple almost tore the century-old house down.
Now she is glad they did not. In Tottenville, they are surrounded by family members who keep his presence strong, including his sister, Loretta Halpert.
Lake George was Firefighter Pansini’s favorite spot in the world. This summer, as Mrs. Pansini packed for their annual vacation to the lake, Claire asked if they were going to meet Daddy there. “I’m blown away by how much they remember him,” Mrs. Pansini said. “I don’t think he knew how much he meant to so many people. He was a very comical person. The love of my life. People keep coming up to me and saying, `I miss him so much.’ ”

Our thoughts and prayers go out every day to Paul’s friends, family, and coworkers at Ten House. Six men were lost that day from that Firehouse.

While at the movie, we saw a trailer for Transformers: The Last Knight. It’s one of the best “Girl Power” type things I’ve seen in a long, long time. And I think it’s best because it’s Girl Power without being Anti-Boy in any way.
She says to us: “I was — just a normal kid. Before my world fell apart. Some kids used to tease me. They’d say, ‘You run like a girl. You throw like a girl. You fight like a girl.’ Fight like a girl? Yeah. I fight like a girl.”
