The Vegetable Garden
May 10, 2006 – 3:48 pm by kimschMy vegetable garden is small. I bought the plants at a nursery, the landscape timber and stakes at Home Depot, the soil at Menards, the tomato cages and flowers at Ace.
The back row is three “Early Girl” tomato plants.
The second row is three grape tomato plants.
Interspersed among the tomatoes are the tomato’s pet marigold plants. Tomatoes like to have pet marigolds.
To the left in front is a watermelon plant, to the right is a zucchini plant. In the middle are some asparagus plants that won’t be ready to harvest until next year.

I keep coming back to see your fine garden. That’s my plan for this summer but it seems overwhelming. It needs to be done and I think I will enjoy it but I know absolutely nothing about gardening. I hope you continue to photograph your garden.
Good luck with the garden! Pet marigolds… I’ve never thought of that! Who knew marigolds could be domesticated - and by a tomato no less. Thanks for the tip!
The marigolds are actually guard marigolds - they keep those nasty tomato worms away…
